The Impact of Your Faith

Pastor Roger Hoots began a new series titled “The Spirit of Your Faith” with an opening message called “The Impact of Your Faith.” His desire in this series is for every believer to measure and increase their faith—because faith does not just affect our own life; it can affect those around us.

“Your faith can have a direct impact on the faith of someone else.” — Pastor Hoots

Faith is not meant to stay private or silent. It moves, strengthens, and encourages others. As Pastor Hoots reminded us, “Faith gives strength when you’re weak, and hope when all seems hopeless.”

In this message, he highlighted three examples from the Scriptures that reveal how faith in one heart can change the life of another.

1. The Faith of a Mother (Matthew 15:22–28)

This mother came to Jesus on behalf of her daughter who was “grievously vexed with a devil”. She had no power to heal her child, but she knew who could.

She was determined and humble, crying out to the Lord even when others rejected her plea. Her faith was personal, persistent, and focused on the needs of someone else.

“O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt.” — Matthew 15:28 (KJV)

Like this mother, we must come to the point where we acknowledge our need and cry out to God for help—not just for ourselves but for others.

2. The Faith of a Boss (Matthew 8:5–13)

The centurion was a man of authority, wealth, and resources—but he still came to Jesus for help. He recognized his limits and saw that power and position could not meet his servant’s need.

True faith sees people as souls, not just as workers, friends, or names on a list. The centurion could have so easily replaced this servant, but he did not. The centurion believed that Jesus could heal with just a word, and his faith amazed even Christ.

“Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.” — Matthew 8:10 (KJV)

Faith like this reminds us that no matter how capable or successful we are, we still depend entirely on God—and we can use our influence to lift others toward Him.

3. The Faith of Some Friends (Matthew 9:1–8)

When a man with palsy could not reach Jesus on his own, his friends carried him. They tore through a roof, labored together, and laid him before the Lord.

“And Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.” — Matthew 9:2 (KJV)

These friends represent the kind of faith that acts on behalf of those who cannot help themselves. Real faith doesn’t stand by—it works, intercedes, and brings others to Christ.

Who Is Your Faith Impacting?

At the end of his message, Pastor Hoots asked a couple questions that challenges every believer to reflect:

  • Who is your faith in today?
  • Is your faith impacting anyone else?

Your faith has influence. It can shape your family, encourage your friends, and strengthen your church. Let your faith move beyond words—let it show with love, service, and a steadfast trust in the Lord.
