The Great Things Of Gratitude

Pastor Roger Hoots’ latest message, “The Great Things About Gratitude,” reminded us of the powerful impact a thankful heart can have on our daily walk with Christ. He began in the book of Colossians, where Scripture teaches that thanksgiving is not optional. It is the will of God for every believer.

Gratitude is more than a feeling. It is a deliberate choice to recognize God’s goodness, to remember His works, and to simply respond with praise. When we understand what God has done for us, thankfulness becomes a natural overflow of the heart.

God Deserves Our Thanksgiving

We often expect excellence when we pay a high price. Whether it’s a costly meal or a new car, the value we invest raises our expectations. Pastor Hoots reminded us that God paid the highest price for us, giving His only begotten Son.

No sacrifice on earth compares to the cross. Because of what He gave, why shouldn’t God expect and deserve our continual thanksgiving, praise, and devotion? He is always deserving of our praise and thanksgiving!

Giving Thanks Can Revolutionize Your Life

A thankful spirit can change everything in your life. Your outlook, your relationships, your joy, and your influence on others. Ungratefulness clouds the heart, but gratitude lifts it.

A believer who gives thanks walks with more peace, more clarity, and more spiritual strength. Thanksgiving helps you see life through God’s goodness rather than through your circumstances.

Remember What He Has Done for You

God saved us through the death of His Son. He paid the price we could never pay. And for the believer, He will deliver us from the wrath to come. That alone is enough reason to live each day with a grateful heart.

But gratitude does not stop with what God has done. We must also remember what God is doing in us right now. He guides us, grows us, forgives us, comforts us, and gives us grace for every trial.

Let Gratitude Give You a Song

Pastor Hoots encouraged us to keep a song in our heart. Singing helps establish and maintain gratitude in the soul. A thankful Christian is often a singing Christian, and a singing Christian is often a joyful one.

Be Thankful for the Body of Christ

God never designed us to walk alone. We should thank Him for fellow believers, for the church family He placed us in, and for the unity we share in Christ.

And above all, we must be thankful for His Word, which guides us, corrects us, and provides a road map for our Christian Pilgrimage.
