How Enoch Pleased God

In Hebrews 11, often called the “Faith Hall of Fame Chapter,” we find a great example of unwavering faith in Enoch. The Bible tells us that Enoch pleased God and how he did not see death—God simply took him. But what was it about Enoch’s life that made him so pleasing to the Lord?

Enoch Walked with God

Genesis 5:24 (KJV) states, “And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” Unlike many others in his time, Enoch lived in close fellowship with God. His life was marked by faith, obedience, and devotion.

Hebrews 11:5 (KJV) further explains, “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.” This verse emphasizes that Enoch’s faith was at the heart of his relationship with God. He believed, trusted, and lived according to God’s will.

A Life That Pleased God

So, how did Enoch please God?

  1. He Walked with God Daily – Enoch did not have a distant or occasional relationship with God. He walked with Him, meaning he sought His presence and lived in obedience.
  2. He Lived by Faith – The Bible teaches that “without faith it is impossible to please him” (Hebrews 11:6, KJV). Enoch’s unwavering faith pleased the Lord.
  3. He Was Set Apart from the World – In a time of increasing wickedness, Enoch remained faithful. His life stood as a testimony of righteousness.

What We Can Learn from Enoch

Enoch’s life teaches us that pleasing God is not about great works or achievements but about faith and walking with Him daily. If we seek the Lord, trust in His promises, and live according to His word, we too can have a life that pleases Him.
